The stomp box kind. I've never used one, always had the little Fender chromatic AX-5000 I got years ago....Anyways I understand that the pedal tuner would go in your effects chain somewhere, but would you still need to put your amp in standby, so's not to hear yourself (and erk your bandmates) while tuning?
Stupid question maybe, laugh all you want but I've never used one so go easy!:p

Not sure how the Fender one works, but if it works like my BOSS, then it is the very first thing my guitar plugs into. When I turn it on, it cuts the signal to everything else, and I tune in silence.

Ahhh, neat. I would assume that it would work in the same way then. Makes sence. Thanks!

Again not sure about the fender one but you may find it has two outputs, one will cut the sound the other will not, but my stage tuner cuts out the amp as soon as I stand on it...

I've got the Boss one also, yes, it turns off the signal everywhere else provided it's the first thing you run in the chain. Also, it acts as a power supply for you're other Boss effects, you can daisy chain your AC from it.
