Here is a collaboration that Aaron and I have been working on the last few weeks. Hopefully most of you know the song, 'Not More Mr. Nice Guy' by Alice Cooper. I'll comment on what I did and how I did it, then Aaron can discuss his setup when he sees the post.
Basically, the drums and bass are a midi that I have. I doctored them slightly with Edirol and some reverb in Sonar. I was shown how to slave my drum machine off of my PC last week, but I haven't had time to really mess with it. So maybe better sounding drums next time.
As far as guitar, all of my playing is panned to the left side, while Aaron is on the right. I had a hard time deciding if I wanted to go for a more modern tone (like Alice performs it now), or a more classic feel like the original recording. I did it both ways, but I didn't care for how the rythm parts came out with a Mesa Dual Rect patch. It was too chunky. So I wound up playing all of the rythm guitar on this track, and used my Agile AL-2800 through my POD XT Live pedal, with a 58' Bassman/Tubescreamer patch that I created. This was played into my Soundblaster Audigy Live, recorded on Sonar 4 Producers Edition, mixed, then ripped to an MP3, sent to Aaron... and bascally he took over from there with all of the lead guitar parts on your right speaker.
Yes... that is me singing. Don't laugh, and don't make too much fun, ok?
So anyhow... Aaron and Jason present: (http://locomotivecomponents.com/aaron_jason_nomoremrniceguy.mp3)
