nothin but the blues

Well, I could no longer control the GAS pains. I picked up my new baby today. I've been fortunate to own many beautiful Acoustic Guitars... but in all honesty, I have never played, or heard anything as beautiful as this guitar for Acoustic Blues. It really does take my breath away... literately. Most of you will figure it has to be for me to give up my Martin 000-28EC for it.
It's a 1936 Gibson L-00 in completely original shape. It was in a family for it's entire life, and belonged to the lady's Grandfather. It is in incredible shape for a 70 year old Instrument.
I'll comment more on the sound this week... but no small body acoustic guitar has EVER grabbed me like this one has. It's just un-freakin-believable.
Here is some pics of my new gorgeous lady.

It is beautiful. Erik... you've had some pretty amazing guitars in your collection since I've come to know you, but I think this one takes the cake! Someday, I'm gonna have to stop by Cincy on my way to Columbus and give your guit... I mean you a visit! LOL!
I'm curious as to what kind of case it was in?

 Come on over anytime you want man. We'll get some Skyline or Gold Star Chili
The case was the original case, for that guitar. It's in really bad shape, but I have it here anyway. I just put in an order for a new L-00 Hardshell that I'll use for it, but I wanted the original paper/cardboard case just for the history behind it all.

Well I'm typing from my blackberry in The Hamptons.. Just finished a nice bottle of wine with the wife on the balcony of our suite.. The kids are sleeping, I'm smoking a fine cigar and the sky is lit up with stars... A BEAUTIFUL SITE - almost as beautiful as that new guitar of yours Erik (segue)... Congrats buddy.. I know you wanted that guitar real bad and now she's yours! I won't even ask how much you paid for her but I will request that you post a clip of you playing it. This one seems real special - one that even EC would be GASSING for!! LOL. Enjoy her.

I'll try to put a little something together soon. I need to get some clips of the Bellezza Nera up also, it's still the best sounding guitar I've ever played. The Gibson is just a Blues Beast. :smoke:

Ok, so by request I've thrown together a small clip of the Gibson L-00. I messed around with Ramblin' on my Mind real quick.
A few things to note. The strings on it are not the ones I use, they came on the guitar, and are pretty worn as you can imagine. I'm waiting for my shipment of strings to come in to replace.
I'm only using a little POS computer mic, and there is no mixing or anything, I'm not that intelligent  . I was also not playing on the correct tempo, I was just trying to hurry up and get it done so you could at least hear the guitar
But, it should give you an idea of what this beast sounds like. Let me know what you all think of her.

:) Pretty nice sounds...! Congrats on the guitar, again...

Holy S$%T. Honestly, through a computer mic sounding the way it does I can tell that this thing would just sound fantastic if I was in the same room as it. Bloomin' beautiful I say :)

Erik, you need to either move this recording, or one like it to the Soundboard! That is so Soundboard worthy! I LOVE IT!

Thanx all. Once I re-string it, I'll try to put that song down on tempo, and not such a rush job.

How about this, once I get my strings in, I'll lay down the tracks in full, and at tempo and you are more than welcome to lay down some vocals on top of it
My singing is comparible to a squirel getting his nuts caught in a car door.

Why is it than some of blues guitar players don't like their voices? I have read than SRV, Clapton, Hendrix....didn't like their voices...once they sang it was all good...

Your right, actually Clapton still doesn't like his voice. I think he mentions that in Sessions for Robert J, that he still doesn't consider himself a singer. He sounds much better than I though for sure!
In the very first band I was in, I was suppose to be the singer... that was until I opened my mouth... after that, guitar was my destiny

Now when you say a squirrel getting his nuts in a car door, what type of nuts are you talking about? http://fenderpick.com/images/smilies/cracking%20up.gif
