I'm closing in on my new acoustic and just hit another hurdle. Cutaway or not?
I'm thinking it could be handy but I am more of a traditional kinda guy. Could the cutaway effect tone? I don't really see the need to spend alot of time that high on the frets but seeing as this wil be my last acoustic guitar purchase for some time, I wanna get the right one if you know what I mean.
I'm thinking I could live without it but am interested in hearing from experianced players with them out there.
Thanks.

I have several of both, but when I didn't have cutaways, that is what I wanted. Now that I have and had cutaways, I don't really want them. I mean... those high frets on my acoustics get really dusty! Just kidding... but you get what I mean, I hardly ever go there, unless it is for a natural harmonic and the cutaway won't help anyhow.

I vote no cutaway.

For acoustic/electric, I prefer a cutaway....although I have no idea why...like Jason, the upper frets get dusty.....but if you're buying one with no electronics, then no cut-away IMO. Let it look like an acoustic.

Bingo. I think after much thought this afternoon I'd perfer a traditional style.
I vote no-cutaway.

*look at me, my thread started a new poll. Do I get commission?*

I would say no cutaway either. Personally I never cared much for them for some reason.
