Yes. Mahogany has been moved to the same level of endangerment on the CITES endagered list as to what occured with Brazilian Rosewood a few years ago. Will this mean the same increadable increase in the price of guitars made of this now confirmed endangered wood, will be the same as we have experienced over the past 3 years with Brazilian Rosewood?
Companies such as Martin Guitars have already made changes such as no longer listing thier standard guitars necks manufatured from mahogany, but "select woods." A sign that large pieces of Mahogany are already hard to come by. And have been for some time. CEO of Martin Guitars, C. F. Martin was recently quoted as saying that normally the company would have had 3 times the quanity of wood that they currently have in stock.
Do I think that there will be a huge run up in value of mahogany guitars like there was with Brazilian Rosewood? No! But in the next 10 years, YES! Especially with Hondurus mahogany. Today is a great day to invest in Mahogany. As always, just MYHOP!!! :smoke:
