Don't get me wrong...Electrics "SCREAM" tone only possible by one's imagination. But there, to me, is something that only a quality acoustic can give. 1 on 1 true feed back and tone.
Something about when I grab my acoustic. Unlike an electric, I REALLY have to play it. I can feel the notes. It truely draws me in! The player to feed back is so much more truer towards what I am trying to express.
I more than love all of my electrics....But I would die over my acoustics!
Feel the same? Even have an acoustic? What you think?

I have six acoustics sitting in here right now. Two of them out at all times. It isn't the first thing I grab when I want to play, but when I do I like how the instrument itself inspires you (or at least me) to play differently. It also helps mellow and sooth me out on a rough day. I find it more theraputic than my electrics.

I'll echo those sentiments.
I did an acoustic solo act for a few years. James Taylor, Harry Chapin, Jim Croce, yadda yadda. I've got an Epiphone drednaught that my parents bought new for me in 1977, and my best acoustic is a 30-year old Guild Jumbo that I've had for about 10.
An acoustic is a versatile and awesome tool, but you must actually have technique. YOU , the player, must MAKE the music come alive. You can't just turn a knob.

I do play acoustic guitars sometiimes, both nylon and steel string. But I consider myself an electric player first and foremost.
nothin but the blues

Well, you already know my answer. I prefer Acoustic to Electric (wasn't always that way though).
To me the acoustic is just so much more intimate. There is just something about a guy and his acoustic guitar, no effects, no amps, just him alone, tappin his foot, and grinding out the blues.... ahhhh... whats better than that. :bannana_g

I have a cheap steel string acoustic thats the 1st guitar i always grab to practice on,because the actions higher,it seems to stregthen my hand better, but like Gmello i consider myself an electric player 1st & foremost, and i only play acoustic "live" for family outdoor get togethers and i rarely listen to acoustic players unless its Blues or Bluegrass or country lap slide.

I usually spend a 1-2 hours per day in the music room with the electrics, but I always have one of the acoustics in a stand next to "the old mans chair" in the parlor. When I relax at nite and sip the bourbon and watch something on the tube, the acoustic is in my hands, sometimes just messing with stuff, other times going through my songlist. And I prefer slide playing on it...and ya gotta admit, it keeps the finger tips toughened. I love the acoustic, its more personal when you play it, low-tech.

I play my dad's ovation when I want to get down and nitty gritty with the blues, or when I just want to do something softer than my usual electric style.
I started on acoustic; my dad taught me Old MacDonald when I was 8 :rock-guit

I've made it a healthy habit to steal my girlfriend's acoustic whenever inspiration strikes. I've had my eye on a Rogue acoustic/electric for a while now, but money's always tight...glad I gave up this :smoke:

I learned on my acoustic...my trusty, beaten-to-hell Fender Concord II. I'd originally wanted an electric as my first guitar, but my dad (who's been playing music since he was six, and turns 70 this year) said that if I learned to train my fingers and ear on an acoustic, an electric would be the easiest thing in the world. Heh...he was right, too.
There's a good, raw, intimate expressiveness that comes out of someone who has a favorite acoustic and enjoys playing it, regardless of proficiency. I just got mine back from the shop earlier this week, and as much as I love my Strats, my new Tele, and my nylon-string, that Concord II has amazing warmth and a rich, full sound to it. I always keep it by the couch in my living room in case I want to play or practice something on it.

I play the acoustics (Ovation Balladeer or Viper) when I just wanna "grab" a song or "strum"...only "haul out" the electrics (Tele or ES-135) when "jammin" with somebody.
I actually prefer playing the acoustics, even with their higher action and bigger gauge strings, because it's nothing but YOU and GUITAR...no knobs or switches to "twiddle"...just your fingers and the strings!

Put the new (to me) Epi A/E through its paces last night, unplugged. Played a bunch of Willie stuff, and even went on a way-back trip to Simon & GarFUNKel, Gordon Lightfoot and Jim Croce. Nice to visit with old friends again.
Got the action setup to where it's quite playable with Martin SP Extra Lights. A D28 it ain't, but there's enough tone there to get the idea across. Through the Marshall, I can get it close to Willie's picked classical using my thumb. Lotsa fun.:guitar:

If I play my acoustic, its usually only once or twice a week. I have it in my son's room. I'll bring it out when he's not too cranky in his crib. I'll play a few of the portions of songs that I know or run through some blues scales. I prefer my electrics.:rock-guit

I play both and enjoy them both... It's funny how I approach them so differently, but depending on what I pick up, there is a completely different mind set... Right now, I am playing bass with one band, mostly electric/some acoustic with another, and I'd love to round that out by finding someone to do strictly acoustic music with on a regular basis...

I decided when I started back with guitar that I wouldn't favour one guitar or style over another.
So I alternate electric and acoustic and over a week I would play both equally deliberately.
I am trying to develop all aspects of my playing and I am lucky enough to have two sensational guitars to play with.
For my next significant birthday (five years away) I have promised myself a Gibson cs356 but only if my playing can justify it.
So everytime I pick up a guitar I focus my practice on justifying the next purchase.
So far so good.

Myself...I never let my limited abilities decide if I am "worthy" of the ownership of a great guitar. I'd be limited to an "Esteban" if that were the case! :Loco:
I buy the guitars that I not only enjoy to play, but to admire and their qualities "speak' to me. >>>If that makes any sense!
