I like to play my Martin 00-15. I actually love it! Not only for the price (little more than $700 USD) but the great and resonant sound I get from it. It's a "no frills" all solid mohagany guitar. Gently played, this little guitar produces some lovely tones, with adequate sustain... but it does not produce excessive amounts of overtones. Very responsive and 'quick' and the notes decay well enough to not muddy up the mix. Trademark of mahogany. Solo acoustic blues-this guitar is perfect for me.. fingerpicked blues, folk rock, early country/bluegrass stuff all the way to manic strumming punk stuff, and this seems to work for it all!

Would liketo hear from other "pickers" out there. :music-smi

I bought a Gibson J-60. The action is a tad high, and I need to take care of that, cuz it kills my fingers to play it. But it has a GREAT tone!

I went to a local music store one day all set to buy a Martin D-28, and left with the J-60 for half the price. But I don't think I gave up anything as far as tone. That was about 9 or 10 years ago, and the guitar sounds better and better w/ age!

It has a crack in the top from the bridge on back (thanks to the dry Arizona climate in which I live), but it hasn't affected the sound of the guitar.

You won't catch me playing anything but a Martin Acoustic... my stable seems to constantly change... I've had so many. Right now though I have a 000X1 that is use as my travel buddy or beater if you will. I also have the SPDC-16R Dread Cut Away that serves me well for now on strumming tunes. And of course as I've mentioned in other threads, I have my holy grail the Martin 000-ECHF Bellezza Nera coming in either Jan of Feb.

I actually play a lot of acoustic... probably even more than electric now. :music-smi

Do you have a humidifier in the room your acoustic lives in? or a case humidifier?

I have a case humidifier, but I don't use it, and haven't used it for many years now. Since I stopped using it (after the crack appeared), the crack hasn't grown, and I've gotten a bit fond of it, actually. It gives it some "character". Maybe I'm cracked! LOL

LOL! I actually agree, I think the crack ads character (look at Willie's poor Martin for crying out loud haha!) as long as it doesn't affect the sound. I suppose humidifying it after the fact does not serve much of a purpose haha...

Since having my Martin 00-15, the poor electrics have gotten very little air time. Looking forward to testing out my new Martin 000-15s when it arrives!

I also play a Jazz Bass which I assembled. I took a Midnight Blue Mexican fretless Jazz Bass and threw everything away except the body (neck, pups, pots, everything!), bought a '62 reissue neck and vintage tuners, vintage bridge, new electronics, BassLines pups, and pearloid pickguard and went to town! I put Fender flatwounds on it and it is a sweeeet sounding bass.

The amp is an old Peavey TNT115 that needs a tune-up! The J-Bass sounds GREAT through anything w/ 4 10's.
