Well Mike... something wonderful happened today haha! Here's the story...

I was at the local GC hanging with the Martin's like every Saturday. This guy was in there for hours, going back and forth between a D-41, and D-42. So, being the nice guy I am, I talked to him about both, and also played both for him, so he could hear the guitar from an audience point of view. He finally decided on the D-42... now comes the intersting part :coolgleam

I'm talking to him about the 000-28EC guitars... and he says, "yea, I'm trading one in to get this D-42, I just couldn't get used to it" so I say, "hmm... could be interesting, as I could tell this guy barely played his guitars". Now, the GC guy comes and says to me, "ya dude, its one that was built the 1st year, ('96) number 593, and it's MINT!" Well, as you can guess, by now my GAS juices were flowing... soooo as soon as the guy left, I grabbed it from the GC dudes hands, and to the back room I went.

Well, I have played many... and I mean many 000-28EC's... and this one by far is the best sounding I've ever had in my hands... and the GC guy was right, the guitar is 100% dead mint (9 years old!). Soooooooo, I now have a '96 000-28EC Clapton sitting in my living room... I think it'll make a great little brother for the 000-ECHF when it comes in :smoke:

Here's a few quick pics (crappy camera, sorry for the fuzziness, I'll try to get better ones later). In the 1st pic, the EC is on the left, and what is soon going to be Aaronl's new guitar is on the right.

Wow! How sweet it is! Bet you are having a blast! You have owned one before right? This one must be EXTRA special! Have heard that the first few years were the best of the series.

#483 in the series is on Ebay right now! Asking tooooo much!

Myself, I am looking into a purchase this summer. I need to compare a few more models before I decide exactly on what I want. The 00028EC....does about fit the bill! I have played a dozen or so at various GC's and Sam Ashes. I played a 00028VS a few months back and I really fell in love. If the wife hadn't been with me...It probably would have followed me home!

Again...Congrats on the New EC!!!.....

Yea I've owned a few of these over the years, none sounded like this one though, and none that I've played in stores etc. If it wasn't for that, I would have been able to walk away with no problem.

Plus I got a pretty sweet deal considering I helped them sell they D-42, and I knew how much they gave the guy on trade in (they RAPED him!).

There's always some floating around on Ebay. I paid considerably less than the one you posted :smoke: So you know I stole it basically :bannana_g

LOL..Looks like I am not the only one who hangs out at GC and can't help but give some advice. I think that GC owes me a generous commission check! Though, I have been squeaked a few good deals! New Yamaha Motiff 6 and Roland amp at cost! Not to mention a few others! :smoke:

I can never understand it when I see an item at TOP dollar or even above on Ebay. I can go into any local music store and do that! So many people forget to bargain when they are at GC, etc. They want a quick turn around!

Ya same here, the Store Manager actually thanked me yesterday for helping out with customers when ever I'm in there. I think that may be part of why he gave me such a sweet deal. I've helped them sell quite a few high end guitars.

Got a little surprise today, as I was changing strings I noticed that the previous owner had an under-the-saddle pickup system installed on this baby too! Sweet! :smoke:

Can the deal get any sweeter? Let's guess what's next. You notice a lump in a seem inside the guitar case. Pull out 3 crisp new $100.00 dollar bills! :rlol:

Ok..I am going to play my very modest 00-15. Close my eyes and pretend it is a glossy, binded and signature model Martin! Hat's off to you Eric!
