Now that I have a bass along with my others guitars... do I need to 'retrain' on the bass. Ihave been playing guitar for many years and the books that i have looked at for the bass are very basic for me, so this is really for those who have already done what I am now doing... what do I need to educate my self on or don't I???

over to you fellow Fenderpicks..

Some of those basic books also have companion books that are more advanced and have backing tracks to well known songs, minus the bass of course. It wouldn't be a bad idea to pick something like that up. Mal, you've been playing around bassists and listened to music long enough to know what you need to do and what not to do on the bass. A dozen or so songs for you to jam on at home might be all you really need to get your chops up to speed for playing out live.

I had two really good titles I could have recommended to you, but unfortunately they were loaned out and never returned. But they should be easy to find. They had a CD included with some Stones, Beatles, old Rod Stewart songs... and stuff like Pretty Woman and the like. Most likely the skills playing those types of some will work out just fine with the stuff you do.

Thanks for tha Jason,
I am just itching to get playing, my gigging band is in a bit
of a lull over the summer (even though we are still rehearsing), so as you say it may just be the case of a couple of backing tracks to get up to speed. I will have a look around for what you say, I have some backing tracks for normal guitar so at a pinch I will listen to them and just play along for a while..
