To be honest. I have not played too many Gibson Acoustics. The J-42 is rather basic. Not the greatest attention to detail. But man! It sure sounded and felt good. It had that darker mojo that I like. And the price wasn't bad at $1,500. I am sure I could knock that down a bit. Now, I am dieing to play a smaller bodied Gibson! :smoke:
EDIT....Must have been a J-45.....OOOP's!

Crud.....Attempted to do a search on the guitar that I played. It was a basic sunburst rounded sloped shoulder. The J-45 pic's on musicians friend don't quite fit. Too fancy. It was new, so I guess it wasn't a J-40. I know it wasn't because they also had a used J-40. I am confused as heck. Looks like I need to get down there soon...and write the model down. Old age really sucks!

OK...Mystery solved. It appears that the one I played was the basic J-45. Mahogany. If it were Rosewood, it would have had a few fancier appointments, ie gold hardware, etc. (Like I saw on MF)
The Mahogany explains the darker tone. I guess I must like Mahogany.

Now you're in MY heaven. I like Jumbos, and I like mahogany.
My ol' standby is a Guild rosewood jumbo.

Of course, playing it is like hugging a two-bedroom bungalow... but.... the SOUND!

Looks like the seller took it off. Nice guitar! I am keeping an eye out for a L-00. Have you taken a gander at the 12 fret 25" Johnson....REAL nice!

Yeah the L-1... I have not had a chance to play one in person just yet though... Hopefully I'll run across one soon.
