A little while back - a friend of mine (in the Netherlands) found me an old mandolin, at a flea-market - in dire need of some TLC...

It had tuners missing, two of three rusty strings, but looked worh repairing. The label inside the soundhole reads "Lyra Brand" by the C.Bruno Company... and "Made in U.S.A". Have been told that it probably dates from the early 1900s to the 1930s, but I would appreciate any info any of you guys have?

Cleaned many years of grime and grot from the body and fretboard. Found some Gotoh tuners to fit (eventually)....and here it is!

Now fully functional!! Repaired, not restored... looks great, eh?

Lovely sound and plays really well.
Time for a bit of bluegrass....

Wow nice to see a vintage instrument that's fully functional and not restored (like you mentioned). BTW you sure do have a lot of mates on the look out for you huh?
