I've got two strats now with maple, guess I could swap out one of them for a rosewood......or not.

Rosewood on a strat..... might as well be a .. ah.. er.. Gibson........... Don't sweat it, I have a Gibson with a maple neck so....it should counteract any inbreeding problems.

Rosewood on a strat..... might as well be a .. ah.. er.. Gibson...........Now now... That's hardly the case.

There's lots of folks that both prefer (for playing) and like (aesthetically) a rosewood neck. I know I sure do...

My '62 MIA RI came with a rosewood neck, and when I replaced the neck (with a Warmoth custom) I went with rosewood.

My Agile ST1000 (strat clone, nice git for the money) came with rosewood and I like that one as well.

Finally, the (Warmoth custom) neck for my (as yet uncompleted) padouk strat has neither (it has a kingwood fretboard.)

I am thinking I'll go with maple when I put together my ash strat, sometime in the future.

Refer to the strat fretboard wood preference poll.

cherokee747,

That's a beaut man! I am a huge fan of the AmDlx Strat. I don't dig vnitage saddles at all and I love locking tuners. I haven't been able to bond with the SCN's yet though - I like them on my AmDlx Tele but I've had a Strat with them and I couldn't warm up to it. How do you like the SCN's?

BTW - I can only play a Strat with an HB at the bridge

I like them myself. I can get a lot of different sounds out of them.If I want a more traditional Strat sound i play the Am Std! The Deluxe plays sweetly and I love the feel. When you can find one like that, a pup swap is no big deal if you want a different sound.:smoke:

Nice Strat. I have a 2004 Am Dlx (SSS, maple, SCNs, gold hardware) -- I love it. It's my favorite of the 8 guitars I own. The next Strat I'll likely add to the stable is an MIJ w/rosewood. :coolio:

I see you've got food out for it, what about water?
