I like the part where he says, "most of the tuners are useable"! I'm thinking maybe a vengeful wife in a bitter divorce.

What's hilarious is IEC was a first born American of Sicilian descent.

What's hilarious is IEC was a first born American of Sicilian descent.First, to comment on the e-Bay guitar -- there ought to be a law.

Second... I once met Iron Eyes Cody. I was TDY for two weeks to Rock Island Arsenal up near the Quad Cities back in early 1989. It was a Sunday and I had just checked in to the hotel and went to the attached restaurant for a bite to eat. The place was practically empty, with the exception of me, one other couple and Iron Eyes. He was eating by himself but was carrying on a loud conversation with the lone waitress who was walking around the dining room taking care of the place. He said he spent a great deal of time traveling around the country visiting schools and telling kids about pollution and the harmful effects of drugs. He said his sponsors paid transportation, hotel room fees and meals. The particular event he was in the local area for would also be attended by McGruff the crime dog.

He and I exchanged pleasantries for a bit before he finished and left. I will always remember this encounter. He was a very nice man.

Exactly and he was ashamed of his heritage and even adopted native American children.

Yeah, that is the facts. I don't understand why he was ashamed of his heritage, though. We are what we are, and we should be the best we can be regardless of our heritage.

What matters is how you are brought up. There were four siblings in our family, with three different fathers. In as many ways as we are alike, we are also very different.

My siblings only care about the next beer.......they have no work ethic, two are carnies and one was killed (my sister) due to an alcohol related accident.

I'm as lazy as they are......but I also like to eat and keep a roof over my head and possibly enjoy a few things in life. That is why I work. That is the basic difference between us. We were brought up the same, why I was the odd man out I'll never know, but I'd rather be me than them any day.

I'm proud of my heritage. Whatever caused IEC to be ashamed of his heritage? Does anyone know? That was a sad thing to hear. No one should be ashamed of their heritage, unless they are related to Esteban......

I wonder if the reason for his heritage shift had anything to do with the anti-Italian sentiment that existed in this country with the rise of Benito Mussolini and Facism. IEC's father altered his name to lessen the Italian-ness of it -- IEC and his brothers followed suit. He then further changed his name, "Corti" to Cody and went on to secure many roles in Hollywood as a Native American.

I think people worry too much about heritage... Or maybe that's the wrong word...

I think we should celebrate our heritage, if it's an important part of our upbringing/family/life.

What I want to say is that Americans have become too fragmented precisely because we worry too much about our heritage and so on and not enough about our country and being an American and helping one another and so on.

As JFK said, ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.

I just found out recently that I'm at least 1/8 Scotch or more (the country, not the bottle.) I say "or more" because no one has been able to establish for certain how much Scotch (if any) is mixed into the other 7/8, which is also comprised of (at least) Dutch, Welsh and native american.

But the family clan of the 1/8 is Wallace, which I thought was pretty cool. You can't much more Scotch than that!
