What a week... I'm exhausted - just started a new job this week - working late and staying up late, but tomorrow I see Joe at Town Hall in NYC :D
Last time I saw him was last summer in West Hampton. I'm looking forward to it - seats are 8 rows back from stage (never been, but heard it's a great little venue), and... been granted a photo pass!
I hope to get close up to the stage for some nice new shots (only first 3 songs allowed) - then back to my seat.
I'll be wiped by the end of the show, but looking forward to it of course. Wish I didn't have to show up first thing to work on Friday... anyway, I'll follow up with some feedback and hopefully a few decent pics.

Exhausted. That's the update!
Basically I came early - walked into the "do not enter" back stage door after I was told I would have to wait an hour later to receive my photo pass. Walked into the hall - there was Joe sitting on the stage and bullshitting with a few folks - some I recognized from last year's show I attended.
I chatted with Joe for a while. He was clearly ill... he had some sort of cold and was wiping his nose as I shook his hand. Joe was very cool... talked about his new girlfriend and how NYC has changed so much (this is true) over the last 10 years... no more mom and pop stores and that gritty city feel. The venue was nice - not as nice as Westhampton though.
My seats were 8 rows back from the stage - but way left of stage... not good for taking pics. Along comes Warren (joe's tour manager and hands me my pass) - nice.
So I ended up in the 3rd row dead center as one of the guys I knew gave up his seat to me so I could snap away - which I did! I have a hard time concentarting on the music while shooting which is frustrating since I'm shooting pics almost non-stop (no flash of course).
Joe was clearly under the weather and the band looked weary and spent. Anton Fig sat in on one of the songs - forget which one, but it was great and added a lift to the show - Anton can play the sticks well. Joe played a few songs from the new CD, all the favorite tunes you would expect and one or two surprises. Further on up the road wa a nice addition as well.
Joe almost changed guitars with each song... it was hard to keep up with which guitar was which and I'm not sure of the reason for all the changes, but he sounded great as usual. Joe pulled it together for the band and played his ass off. I have to get a setlist so I can share with you.. I'm sure there will be a boot of the show as well as I met the famous "JB taper" who records all of Joe's shows... I'll look out for it.
In the meantime, here's a few pics (I took so many), A few of the best I caught from the show. Overall, a very enjoyable performance!

Maybe it was me who gave Joe his cold lol. Shame he didn't play the flying V in Melbourne, I'd like to hear what his tone is like playing one.

As usual from you Dave, awesome pictures! For those of you that don't know, Joe ended up canceling the next night's show due to illness.
I find it interesting he is playing an Alvarez Yairi instead of a Yamaha. He had played the Yamaha's pretty exclusively for the past several years live.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I found his choice of guitars and switching over - interesting as well.
Here's a clip just found from the show on youtube... Blues Deluxe

Just found Sloe Gin... love this tune. Funny, if you listen closely - that clicking sound in the background is my camera snapping away... that's me! :rlol:
